Kristin and Andrew Get Married at The Cookery!

My first wedding at this unique venue--The Cookery! It is smack dab in the middle of downtown Durham and a blank palette for couples to make what they want of it. Kristin and Andrew decided to go with it and it turned out fabulous. Their wedding was Friday August 8, 2014 at 6:30 PM.
When you walk in the front door and turn to your left, you see this.
Straight ahead is the bar and kitchen area. Sage and Swift was the caterer and also provided cupcakes in place of a wedding cake. There is a mezzanine up the steps and their Photo Booth from Anything Music was there. Their photographer was Amy Allen
From the bar area you can see the front door then the opening to the outside where there was a big tent erected and air conditioned!
Everyone is chipping in to get things ready.
 Their wedding "logo."
Talking to JD Silverthorne with Anything Music DJs. He was great to work with. He is in his corner of operation below for the ceremony.
All the guests are seated and we are standing around getting ready to start. On the left are our attendants, Anna and Adam, then Pat (mother of the bride) with her escort, Casey (her son).
Tom is proud to escort his beautiful daughter, Kristin, into the ceremony area as the guests are standing in her honor. Jule, our wedding director and friend of the bride, did a wonderful job sending us all in on cue.
And here we go! Kristin and Andrew did not like the white curtains for their "backdrop" so Andrew built that wall of recycled wooden boards for the occasion which will be used in their home. It was so heavy it had to be transported in two pieces. The florals were DIY and the simplicity of the baby's breath and green peace lilies was elegant and very organic!
Welcome to all! (You may notice that the bride and groom are on opposite sides than traditional. The parents wanted to see their child's face during the ceremony instead of their backs. I get this request from time to time and it makes sense to me!)
Talking to the parents: Kristin and Andrew had written sweet words to each of their parents thanking them for all their love and support during their lives.
There was lots of laughter and some tears too!
The guests taking it all in.
Now to tell their story! They were introduced on line and when they met in person for their first date which lasted 4 hours, they were both smitten and never looked back!
Revealing what each of them had told me about the other--what they love about each other and what they are looking forward to in marriage. Sweet moment.
 The vows.....
 The rings......
The closing blessing where they turn and gaze around at the loved ones there to honor them.
"It is my honor to pronounce you husband and wife!"
 THE KISS!!
Outside in front of the wall mural on The Cookery......Andrew and Kristin, you had such a wonderful warm, laid back wedding and it is all because that is what you are! What a pleasure to work with you both. I wish you all the best forever!

Beautiful Wedding for Lauren and Brandon at the Garden on Millbrook!

Lauren's mother, Judy, called me on October 9th to inquire if I was available for Lauren and Brandon's wedding on November 30, 2013 at The Garden on Millbrook. I was delighted that I was so Judy and Lauren and I met on October 17th and got the date reserved on my calendar and the couple and I got started on the ceremony.
This venue was formerly owned by Sisters' Catering but was purchased by a new owner in 2011. They have done quite a bit of refurbishing. Look at that magnificent chandelier! The carpeting and wall color has changed also. The three Christmas trees were gorgeous! It is a beautiful setting for a wedding and when the weather is nice, they have a wonderful patio with a huge tent for outdoor ceremonies.
Can you tell the color scheme was red? So pretty at this time of year! Katie is signing the marriage license here. I collect the signatures of the witnesses before the ceremony once I know it is going to happen. The document is not legal and final until I sign it after the ceremony.
My colleague Lawrence with Anything Music was their DJ. We worked a wedding together a few weeks ago! He is so nice and all I had to do was plug my microphone into the body pack he provided.
This cake is simply stunning! It was baked by Lynn's Catering in Franklinton. The Blonde Buttercup in Louisburg provided the floral arrangements. (Neither the baker nor the florist have websites to link to.) Melissa and Paul with Wake Forest Portrait Shoppe were their photographers.
The line-up: Brandon's parents, Kathy and Bob, are first to process in.
Then it is Judy and Eric's turn. Eric, father of the bride, circled around to come back and escort the bride in.
Brandon was really happy the ceremony was starting. He's waited 4 years for this day!
Then the rest of the guys followed.
Our bridesmaids' dresses were gorgeous. Red weddings are so pretty!
Here comes the bride! They used Jonathan Cain's fabulous rendition of the Bridal March. It is my favorite!
The parents are standing for a tribute to them and for their blessing for this marriage!
Their story was pretty funny too! Then came the sweetness where they heard what they loved about each other and what they are looking forward to in marriage.
And they said their vows and sealed them with the exchange of rings.
The pronouncement of marriage........
Did not get a photo of the kiss but Brandon really laid one on Lauren as everyone applauded!
Brandon and Lauren, what a wonderful wedding! I know you are so happy to finally be husband and wife. Thank you for giving me the honor of joining you in marriage. I wish you all the very best!

Tracy and Anthony's Beautiful Wedding at The Oaks at Salem!

Another gorgeous wedding at The Oaks at Salem despite being forced under the tent! The wedding date was November 1, 2013 and Tracy and Anthony planned to have their ceremony across the lake under the sprawling tree but the weather simply was not cooperative and the rains came. The "plan b" worked just fine though!
When we arrived for the wedding, the photographer, Amy Turner--Your Still Life Photography, had gathered the bridal party on the steps for pre-ceremony photos. Don't you just love the navy dresses and the cowboy boots?
This gorgeous cake was baked by Heather Singleton of Party Delights Bakery.
Katie Featherstone was glad to be dry under the tent and she tuned up her beautiful harp.
Most guests sat at the tables during the ceremony. For family, there were two rows of chairs up front for the ceremony.
Birdcage rack held the place cards and table assignments.
Some children of guests were drafted into handing out their beautiful wedding programs to guests as they arrived.
After the parents were escorted in and seated, Anthony and I took our walk down the aisle. Beth Early with Irregardless Cafe who catered the food was our wedding director and kept us all in line! Note Anthony's  blue sneakers and those of his groomsmen!
Bridesmaids were next.
Charlotte--flower girl, Anthony's little niece, was led in by her grandfather, Mike. She was precious!
Our beaming bride and her very proud daddy!
There is that magnificent tree wearing its fall colors in the background. So glad it was in the wedding photos.
You can see the rain streaming behind us. We were literally surrounded by nature. Our sound man, DJ Laurence with Anything Music, had to turn up my volume due to the sound of rain on the tent roof but everyone could hear me just fine.
Tracy and Anthony are such a fun couple and I really loved their story. So did their guests.
The story of Anthony's proposal in Breckinridge Colorado went over very well and generated a lot of laughs!
Vows and rings.....
When each mother was escorted in, she poured some sand into the center container which represented merging of the couple's heritages. Then after the vows and rings, Anthony and Tracy poured more sand to represent the merging of their lives in marriage.
Charlotte was a blur as she followed the bride and groom out!
Beth Early was so happy the wedding went so well and the ceremony was done! Thanks, Beth!
These are all Tracy's family! When the couple first started dating, Tracy invited Anthony to go with her to her sister's wedding where he would meet all at once over 35 members of her family. He obviously passed the test and decided to stick around!
Anthony and Tracy--a grand wedding despite the adverse weather. Congratulations on your marriage and I wish you tons of love, peace and happiness all the days of your lives!
